This is one of the most striking of all of the plants that can be grown in a water garden. We once saw a planting of them in the St. Louis Botanical Gardens that was one of the most beautiful things that we have ever seen in a pond. The red variegations of the otherwise dark green leaves was stunning. The plants were so healthy that they seemed to radiate vigor and well being. Sadly for most of us, it is a true tropical plant, not even doing very well in southern California unless treated with the utmost care and molly-coddling. A great plant for those who can keep it.
