This is a common plant in America. It occurs naturally in moist areas along streams and lakes. It will grow in water up to about 12" deep. Grows on afreely branching, creeping rhizome that produces leaves every few inches. Eventually forms dense colonies at the edges of ponds and streams. Lends a natural, casual look to the pond with its long, droopy grass-like leaves. Should be contained or pruned back from time to time to prevent its running away with the garden. Should be shaved down in the down season to make room for new foliage in the spring.
