      N. crenata is one of the most decorative members of this interesting and attactive group of water plants. Among its attributes are its variegated leaves, which are unusual among aquatic plants with their red blotches and crenate edges. Its bright yellow flowers are produced at the ends of stalks that arise from the base of the plant and grow to the surface of the water. As many as a dozen flowers are produced on each stem. Flowers have 5 petals, each about 1" long X 3/8" wide and fringed with fine hairs. It is a lovely thing that is excellent for use in a tub garden as the featured plant, or as an accent among the other low growing marginal plants. Will tolerate water up to 24" deep and tolerates some frost. For the full variegation it should be planted in full sun. ZONE 8
