Juncus effusus has been enjoying renewed popularity lately. It is a handsome plant producing clumps of long, thin leaves that may attain 30" in length. Leaves are round in cross section. Each is tipped with a sharp point which can deliver a painful jab if hit just right. The clump may eventually form a mound, with each leaf radiating out from the center at its own angle, with very little crossing of leaves. Through the summer, each leaf produces a cluster of small flowers at its end. These eventually ripen into seeds and turn brown. Evergreen in mild winter areas. Zones 5-10
