Houtuynia is the only other member of the family that contains Lizard's Tail, the Saururaceae. Be that as it may, this is a great plant for filling in areas in and around the pond. Spreads by stolons, by which means it spreads rapidly through soil or water. Makes a spectacular display in summer when in bloom. As with its cousin, Saururus, Houtuynia emits a pleasant fragrance when disturbed. Will do well in a bowl of water with its roots in the water and its leaves in the air.
