Mayla is one of those lilies that reminds us why we keep lilies at all. It is easily among the most spectacular of the N. odorata hybrids. Leaves are dark red when young and only become dark green after having been at the surface for some considerable time. The leaves are moderately large (6"10") and unvariegated. Flowers are up to 6" in diameter and are deep pink. They are well formed and sit on the water. It has been said that this variety does not bloom as much as some might prefer. This may be true, but the flowers are worth whatever wait there may be. We have seen several flowers on a single plant at the same time in our collection.

Among the yellow hardy lilies, this is traditionally regarded as the brightest yellow. N. mexicana is a dwarf lily, which produces runners, allowinfg it to form large colonies. Best if planted in a tray, where it will have room to grow. Leaves are medium green and are lightly variegated with marroon blotches. Tolerates sun or shade.

This is one of the more satisfactory yellows in that it is a prolific bloomer, produces deep yellow flowers, and will grow well in small to medium sized ponds. Its deep green leaves are blotched with red variegations. It is very tough and hardy, which makes it a perfect lily for beginners.

Blossoms are uniformly bright pink. Well established plants frequently produce flowers 8 inches in diameter.
