Hardies do better in cooler climates than tropicals, and require less care. For those of you in the milder climes, we recommend a mixture of hardies and tropicals to extend the blooming season as long as possible.

Blossoms are uniformly bright pink. Well established plants frequently produce flowers 8 inches in diameter. Leaves are medium to dark green and exhibit the leaf shape characteristics of its ancestor, Nymphaea odorata. That is, they are not as long as they are wide. Another N. odorata characteristic of Rose Arey is the sweet fragrance. Very well suited to large ponds, in deep or shallow water. USDA ZONES 4-9.

One of the famous "Changeables", with blossoms opening chrome yellow and changing gradually to shades of red-orange. The blossoms are held above the water and present a lovely display in the peak of the season. Vesuve produces with very dark red blossoms 6 to 7 inches across very similar in color to Escarboucle. Flowers are 6" indiameter and stay oppen longer than most lilies, opening in the early morning and closing late in the afternoon. Certainly among the best, if not the very best of the white hardy lilies. It is always a reliable bloomer, one of the first lilies to start growing in the season, and its flowers are simply exquitsite. They are pure white, with a yellow center, about 5" in diameter, and slightly fragrant. The petals are broad and shell shaped. Foliage is green and unvariegated, new leaves are purple.
