Also known as Aflame. The most brilliant of hardy reds. A uniform shade of vermillion-crimson with garnet stamens tipped yellow. Blossoms have a rich spicy odor,and are about 7 inches across. Flowers float on the water and have the pleasant odor of apple blossoms. With it's moderate growth rate and comparatively small leaf area, this lily is well suited to tubs and small ponds. Blossoms are uniformly bright pink. Well established plants frequently produce flowers 8 inches in diameter. Leaves are medium to dark green and exhibit the leaf shape characteristics of its ancestor, Nymphaea odorata. That is, they are not as long as they are wide. Another N. odorata characteristic of Rose Arey is the sweet fragrance. Very well suited to large ponds, in deep or shallow water. USDA ZONES 4-9.

One of the famous "Changeables", with blossoms opening chrome yellow and changing gradually to shades of red-orange. Vesuve produces with very dark red blossoms 6 to 7 inches across very similar in color to Escarboucle. Flowers are 6" indiameter and stay oppen longer than most lilies, opening in the early morning and closing late in the afternoon. The young leaves are dark red mottled with brown, becoming green as they mature. USDA ZONES 4-9.

Certainly among the best, if not the very best of the white hardy lilies. It is always a reliable bloomer, one of the first lilies to start growing in the season, and its flowers are simply exquitsite. This is one of the all time favorites for vigor, beauty, and size. Leaves easily reach 18 inches in diameter and are beautifully mottled with irregular purple variegations. Flowers are a combination of pink, yellow, and orange. Some say that it is like a Tequila Sunrise. They are generally over 6 inches in diameter during the peak season. As the weather turns cold, the normally dark green leaves with numerous irregular variegations, turn brilliant red and orange. The blossoms are deep blue, 10 to 12 inches across, have a spicy fragrance, and stand 6 to 8 inches above the surface of the water. The stamens are yellow with violet anthers, the sepals are marked with black dots and lines. The leaves, often more than 2 feet in diameter, are dark green and slightly speckled with brown above. Beneath, the leaves' color is red-purple along the edges shading to pale green in the center. The margins are wavy, with the lobes long and tapering. This rare offering is one of the smallest of the water lilies. It comes from Madagascar, and is the most recently named species of Nymphaea. It produces small leaves, each with a red spot in the middle, and small pink/white flowers. It will grow and bloom in an aquarium or a pond, is shade tolerant, but will live in partial sun, and it reseeds freely. Can be grown in small barrel ponds on warm patios, or in well lit terrariums.
